About MyVMK

MyVMK wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for a previous VMK remake project before it – unfortunately, it was one that had to come to an end. The name of the remake before MyVMK was oVMK – known for having slow development and poor staff. Grace, being the head Administrator at oVMK’s forums, was the main cause of its downfall. Nick was the original oVMK creator who started the development of the game, and years later Amy came and assisted him in coding. Ever since she joined oVMK, development progressed greatly, and after some short time, a release date was announced for the game. When the countdown counter on the website reached 0, the servers officially opened and hundreds of players started to flood in. The opening of the game was delayed because of unexpected server stress, but eventually everyone was able to access the game. After the release of oVMK, Grace, the head Administrator of the forums, posted a thread about Amy. Amy was kicked out of the development team because the developers believed that Amy had supposedly infested the game with malicious files. That day, Amy had only just woken up to see what Grace had posted about her. She created a youtube video explaining her side of the story, and announced that she was done with oVMK and was creating her own VMK project. Grace posted later saying that they were mistaken about Amy implementing a virus into the game’s files. The community rebelled against oVMK and bashed the staff greatly on Twitter and the forums. The corruption caused oVMK to eventually close down, and Nick left a google doc about his story of oVMK.

The closing of oVMK lead to Amy’s new project, called MyMysticalKingdom (MMK). oVMK’s playerbase quickly transferred over to Amy’s side, being she was the only Shockwave developer who was capable of coding VMK. Amy gained the community’s trust, and shortly after the previous drama with oVMK, MMK started to get onto its feet. A poll was held about the name of the game, and the winner was MyVMK. Then MyVMK opened to the public, legitly. This event marked an important part in VMK history. Countless VMK remakes before failed  to succeed, and on September 27th, 2013, the first ever VMK remake opened!
The first month of MyVMK’s release was a tad unsteady, but Amy was making incredible progress, and the community was more peaceful than ever. There were only three staff; Amy, Grizzly, and Kevin — of which only two of them remain this day. The first couple of months in MyVMK were calm and fun, and although there were a few kinks here and there, the road of success was coming at a fast pace.

It has been a year and a half since the opening of MyVMK, and looking back from where MyVMK started, the progress that has been made is absolutely astonishing. I am exceedingly proud to say that I was a part of this incredible journey from the very beginning. Amy and all of the staff have put forth extreme amounts of effort and dedication towards making this game the best it can be. Without their help, this game would have gotten nowhere. But look where it is now – hundreds of players are online daily, and the forum is bustling with active posts and trading. MyVMK is absolutely flourishing without a doubt! MyVMK’s two-year anniversary is not far away. To have come this far without any major conflicts is absolutely amazing; I have no words to describe MyVMK’s success. I hope to continue playing this game as long as I live, and I hope that each and every player strives to have an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. This community is like no other, and I hope it stays that way. If you have not already joined MyVMK, please do so now! It will be worth your time. You will make many friends, and develop a special place in your heart for this game. Once you sign up, it’s impossible to go back. MyVMK is like a second family to me, and it always will be. Long live MyVMK!
